Our Church
Re’ese Adbarat Saint Mary of Debre Tsion, Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has been serving the Ethiopian and wider communities in London since it were founded by a small group of the faithfuls in 1976. The Church has since grown in size and scope and renders its services to Ethiopians, Caribbean’s and the general community as whole that includes many Baptisms, Weddings, Funeral and Memorial services.
It has conducted the Divine Liturgy of the Holy Mass every Saturday and Sunday, and offers Holy Communion, Confession, and the teachings of the Holy Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Faith. Maskal (Feast of the Holy Cross), Lidet (Christmas), Siklet (Good Friday), and Tensia (Easter) are celebrated according to the Church Calendar and in the ancient manner of the Ethiopian Church.
Our mission is to uphold the centuries-old tradition and values of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and; to increase the awareness of our community in London about the history, cultures, languages, and tradition of Ethiopia; and to provide services consistent with our religion that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church practices.
We hope this site will enable you to actively participate in the different services and programs given by Re’ese Adbarat Saint Mary od Debre Tsion.
Our Web site serves as a means of communication that will facilitate future participation in the different activities of the church. It will eventually enable those who do not have close access to a place of worship to participate in Mass and other services from home.
